This project is designed to raise funds to offset the cost of traveling to Ulsan, South Korea, for students who enroll in the Summer 2026 Media Communication (MCOM) Special Topics course about eSports, its history, evolution, and global experience. The course includes international travel to the University of Ulsan, the host university, for a potential once-in-a-lifetime experience to learn about the worldwide phenomenon where it all began.
eSports is a growing collegiate competition and recruitment field that offers career opportunities. In offering this course, we will help our students better understand the history and future potential of professional, competitive eSports in both play and practice. Doing so will come through in-class instruction at UAFS and the University of Ulsan, guest speakers, field trips, and the invaluable cross-cultural understanding of Korea. The course will be unique to our area, affordable, and take advantage of UAFS’s existing relationship with the University of Ulsan.
