By giving to UAFS volleyball, you’ll help our student-athletes compete against teams outside their conference and visit places that will transform their educational experience.

Your gift will help cover airfare to unique tournaments, making travel more feasible within the program’s budget. The team is pursuing an early-season 2027 tournament in Alaska, though the destination and participation are still to be confirmed.

“We try to take a trip every three or four years, kind of a big one, just to give each class an opportunity to see something they’ve never seen before,” said Jane Sargent, head volleyball coach. “We’ve been twice, and it’s been one of the best experiences that the students have ever had. My alumni still talk about their Alaska trips and how game-changing they were.”

Previous trips paired Division II competition with visits to Kenai Fjords National Park and Denali National Park. Players saw wildlife along the Seward Highway and photographed the northern lights from their departing airplane. For one student-athlete, traveling with her teammates to Alaska meant boarding a plane for the first time in her life.

“Sports are about friendships and finding that extended family. And if you can experience some of those things together, that just solidifies that friendship. It bonds you,” Sargent said
